Flint Vineyard Charmat

Fresh lemon, pear, melon and green apple lead to a bright finish

White Charmat is sparkling wine, but not as you know it. Forget the fancy stuff – this is fresh, fruit-forward fizz made for pure, uncomplicated enjoyment. A vibrant blend led by Sauvignon Blanc, Reichensteiner, and Bacchus it’s crisp, zesty, and packed with juicy citrus and green apple. Perfect for anytime, anywhere. No need to wait for a special occasion, just pop the cork and enjoy the future of English sparkling wine. Fun, fresh, and full of life. An eclectic blend of aromatic, white grape varieties were picked early in the season. They were crushed, de-stemmed and pressed gently under a nitrogen blanket to preserve fruit character. Fermentation in stainless steel using aromatic yeast strains. After fermentation, the wine was racked off gross lees immediately and 10 % was sent to barrel to hold back for the following year. The remaining wine was blended to create a fresh, clean and  aromatic base wine. Secondary fermentation in isobaric ‘Charmat’ tanks gives a natural and delicate effervescence fizz, ready for drinking right away. Based in the sunny and sheltered Waveney Valley in South Norfolk, overlooking the villages of Earsham and Bungay, Flint Vineyard’s winemaker Ben Witchell crafts wines using a blend of innovation and a respect for tradition. The vineyard site was selected as one of the driest and sunniest regions in England and the south-east facing vines are planted on free-draining gravel and flint soil.
