Hive Mind Oak Whisky Barrel-Aged Traditional Mead

A wondrously dark, deep, woody celebration of the best parts of oak and honey

Hive Mind set aside some of their award winning Traditional Mead to age in oak whiskey barrels. The result is a wondrously dark, deep, woody celebration of the best parts of oak and honey. This traditional mead is layered with natural vanillins from the oak barrel with undertones of whiskey that used to call it home, beautifully balanced with Hive’s delicious late summer honey. Hive Mind’s journey began in Matt Newell’s garage, which he and his brother Kit transformed into a micro-winery in 2018. Despite the challenges of Covid, the business went from strength to strength, and Hive Mind now oversees more than 180 hives in the picturesque lower Wye Valley, transforming their precious honey into innovative sparkling meads and traditional wine-style meads.
