Harrow & Hope Brut Rosé 2021
Subtle redcurrant and raspberry notes on a toasty base; persistent mousse
Harrow and Hope’s celebrated sparkling rosé returns with the 2021 vintage. This was a challenging vintage, and Harrow and Hope had to contend with frost and mildew but, after a dry September, there was a nice warm run-up to harvest and the yield came out only 10% down on average; a real triumph for Harrow and Hope’s newfound organic methods. Stylistically speaking, this rosé has subtle differences from the last 2020 Rosé release. Whereas the 2020 was darker in colour with big and brash punchy red fruit character, 2021 is altogether more subtle and elegant; which actually seems to make way for more toasty character from the ageing. It’s lighter in structure but with that it gains more harmony and finesse at such a young stage.
Harrow & Hope’s single-vineyard sits on an ancient Thames gravel terrace. Being quite central and away from the coast the vineyard experiences high summer day temperatures with cooler nights that preserve precious acidity.
