A bottle of English sparkling wine makes an ideal gift to bring to any special event. For a sunny wedding or garden party, consider an English Sparkling rosé. English Sparkling Rosé is made in the same method as white English Sparkling, so you can banish any fears of anything overly sweet or sickly! Instead, you’ll be getting the same rich fruit and toasty notes that distinguish white English Sparkling Wine.

For a classic champagne experience, choose a traditional method non-vintage bottle. Nyetimber’s non-vintage rosé would make an ideal choice, with its beautiful sunset pink colour, and flavours of redcurrant and cherry. Other great examples include Harrow and Hope’s ‘Rosé Brut’ or Wiston’s ‘Rosé Non-Vintage’.

Alternatively, you could look to a vintage English Sparkling rosé. Like vintage English Sparkling Whites, vintages rosés will often display distinctive characteristics of their vintage. Also, they are often capable of extended ageing. For a less well known example, consider the 2015 Ancre Hill Estate Rosé, a rare example of a sparkling rosé made in Wales! With over six years on lees ageing, this bottle has lovely notes of delicate red fruit and brioche. Nevertheless, it displays a zing and energy that belies its age. Other great examples include Everflyht’s ‘Rosé de Saignée’ 2020 or Artlelium’s ‘Maker’s Rosé’ 2015. All perfect for a wedding!

A more unusual gift?

For a more unusual gift, you could bring an English red sparkling. English Sparkling Reds are also made in the traditional method. Still red Pinot noir or Pinot Meunier is added after disgorgement to give that distinctive red hue. One great example is Balfour Hush Heath’s ‘Leslie’s Reserve Red’. Closer in style to a quality Lambrusco than an Aussie Sparkling Shiraz, this wine has delightful aromas of strawberries, raspberries and cherries. It would make a great conversation starter, and pair wonderfully with a barbeque or game.
