Sandridge Barton Sonny Under Flor 2022
White peach, melon, rich, salty and layered, with a savoury, nutty character
This single-barrel Pinot Blanc was left under flor in old oak for over two years — a rare ageing method where a natural layer of yeast forms on the wine’s surface, adding savoury, nutty complexity. Think of it as an unfortified Fino sherry, but with a Devon twist.
Rich, salty and layered — and it’s been awarded Gold, Best Innovative Wine, and Best Alternative White Wine in the UK at the WineGB Awards.
Please note this is a 50cl bottle.
Nestled in a picturesque valley in the South Hams, Sandridge Barton Wines have been growing grapes and making wine since 1981, and produce over 80 tonnes of fruit per year from their 32-acre vineyards. Set in a south-facing bowl and overlooking the River Dart, the vineyard is planted with Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Pinot Meunier, Madeleine Angevine, Bacchus, Pinot Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc.
