This wine is fresh and aromatic, it has aromas of gooseberry, cassis bud and green pineapple on the nose, followed by a zesty palate of pithy pink grapefruit. A classic English Bacchus.
In England is unusual to plant vines at 140m above sea level but Yotes Court top blocks are warm, sunny and sheltered. In an area that had once been a successful apricot orchard Yotes planted their Bacchus vines in 2018 on the assumption that if you can ripen an apricot you can ripen a grape. 2021 was their second harvest, and they decided to machine-harvest the Bacchus grapes. This allowed them to harvest the grapes quickly at the perfect level of ripeness. This process treats the grapes harshly, splitting the skins, giving more time for juice-to-skin contact thereby maximising their fresh and complex flavours.
