Dry and vibrant, with expressive aromas of kiwi and passionfruit, underpinned by heather, leads to a fleshy palate of melon and pear. A subtle hint of cardamom on the long, textural finish.
An evolution in Flint’s favoured expression of Bacchus, and one that has become Flint’s signature style. To bring out the best in Bacchus during fermentation they use only small barriques, large oak foudres and un-lined concrete tanks to soften the wine and develop more complex aromatics.
A blend of distinct vineyard parcels, layering zesty acidity with the tropical character of warmer sites. Combined with a multitude of pressing techniques and yeast strains, each used to extract as much character from this expressive variety. Bi-weekly lees stirring (bâtonnage) and 20% malolactic fermentation adds a creamy texture while balancing acidity.
Based in the sunny and sheltered Waveney Valley in South Norfolk, overlooking the villages of Earsham and Bungay, Flint Vineyard’s winemaker Ben Witchell crafts wines using a blend of innovation and a respect for tradition. The vineyard site was selected as one of the driest and sunniest regions in England and the south-east facing vines are planted on free-draining gravel and flint soil.
