The vineyards of Denbies Estate are situated on the North Downs, in the town of Dorking, with its famous chalky soil, in a protected valley of south facing slopes (AONB). A total of 265 acres out of the 700 acre estate have been planted to vine, commencing in 1986. The Brokes Botrytis 2016 is made 100% from hand-picked Ortega within the Brokes area of the Denbies Vineyard, which is particularly well suited to the development of botrytis. The first pressing of Ortega revealed its fantastic quality. It was fermented partly in oak and partly in stainless steel, then spent time in French oak to provide even greater depth to this unctuous wine. The Brokes Botrytis is golden in colour with vanilla and dried apricot characters on the nose. A luscious and complex dessert wine with fig and caramelised orange on the palate, it finishes crisply and can be enjoyed with a wide array of foods. Only 500 bottles of this wine were made.
