This sparkling wine is a careful blend of hand selected Müller-Thurgau and Pinot Noir grapes brought together to produce a softer style of Sparkling Brut. The wine is clean, fresh and floral with subtle hints of apple and lime. The 2018 vintage was excellent for Chilford, as with so many English wine producers, and the wines express riper fruit flavours than typical, while still retaining fantastic acidity and freshness.
Initially planted in 1972, Chilford Hall occupies 20 acres of free draining “flinty” soil which overlays chalk. Since its first planting, the vineyard grew in size to cover more than 20 acres, comprised of 9 different vine varieties each chosen to perfectly match the climate and soil conditions of the estate. Sadly, the vineyard is not currently producing wine but we are fortunate to have some stocks from before production ceased.
