Black Chalk HiDE 2021

Planted in 2011, HiDE vineyard sits on shallow chalk soils that, despite the site’s relative warmth, force the vines to work hard, producing small yields of consistently exceptional fruit. The wine is a precise, tension-filled expression of this unique terroir, predominantly fermented in stainless steel (95%) with partial malolactic fermentation to add subtle depth and richness to the palate. Extended lees ageing for a minimum of 46 months enhances texture and complexity. Production is limited to 2,682 bottles.

Black Chalk is a wine proud of its English heritage, with roots firmly planted in the chalklands of southern England. Black Chalk was used by the old masters to sketch ideas onto canvas before painstakingly creating a masterpiece.
