Bluebell Vineyard Estates Ashdown Boundary Block Merlot 2018

Soft black pepper, red and black plum and black cherry; smooth tannins

The first ever English Merlot! It is a medium-bodied garnet with aromas of soft black pepper, typical Merlot notes of red and black plum and black cherry. It displays a soft palate, good tannins and a well balanced finish. Following the success of their sparkling “Hindleap” range, Bluebell Vineyards have introduced a new still wine range, “Ashdown”, from 2018. The 2018 growing season was unprecedented – a mild spring for budburst, perfect conditions at flowering and extremely high temperatures throughout June and July, followed by a warm and sunny September and October which provided the ideal condition for ripening grapes. 2018 delivered clean fruit of exceptional quality with a great concentration of sugars and fruit flavours, creating aromatic wines with structure and juicy, balanced acidity. The Merlot has spent fourteen months in old oak barrels.
