We’re very excited to offer a special library release of 2018 Pinot Noirs. 2018 was the breakthrough vintage for English & Welsh red wines, producing the ripest fruit ever seen in these countries. Luscious and textural red Pinot Noirs were produced, by many vineyards for the first time. We’ve assembled a selection of some of the finest examples, the vast majority of which aren’t available to purchase anywhere else. The wines have been carefully cellared in temperature controlled conditions for the past five years and are now in beautiful form.
Sharpham’s 2018 Pinot Noir was cold macerated on skins, with some stems included, before fermentation. It was then aged in French oak before release to develop and soften. The result is a ripe cool climate Pinot Noir showing wild strawberry, cherry with subtle spice and earthiness – full flavoured with juicy red berries and broad tannins. Drinking well now.
Nestled in a picturesque valley in the South Hams, Sandridge Barton Wines have been growing grapes and making wine since 1981, and produce over 80 tonnes of fruit per year from their 32-acre vineyards. Set in a south-facing bowl and overlooking the River Dart, the vineyard is planted with Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Pinot Meunier, Madeleine Angevine, Bacchus, Pinot Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc.
