Litmus Wines White Pinot Noir 2018
Peach, honeysuckle and smoky characteristics, this complex wine is full and round
Pale straw in colour with some evident peach, honeysuckle and smoky characteristics. Litmus White Pinot is made from 100% Pinot Noir that was gently handled throughout the winemaking process.
2018 is widely seen as being one of the best growing seasons for wine ever experienced in England. Hot and dry conditions from budburst to picking produced fully ripened fruit of an exceptionally high quality. Gentle handling to avoid colouration from skins was followed by fermentation in two to five year old French oak barriques with battonage and no sulphur addition prior to bottling in September 2019. This complex wine displays a fullness and roundness. The palate is structured, full bodied, rich and silky with a steely backbone of acidity and layered nuances of multifaceted almost red wine characters. It will hold up to being enjoyed with hearty full flavoured dishes and cheeses.
John Worontschak is the chief wine maker, who has developed the Litmus wines range. John has been making English wine since 1988. In 2010 John decided to create the first Litmus wine, Element 20; the concept was to move away from the traditional fruity and sometimes one dimensional English wine styles. The Litmus range is a culmination of John’s experience and the wines are designed to highlight the very best of cool climate English style wines, promoting balance, complexity and length of flavour.
