Ambriel Cloud Ten 2010 Magnum
Ripe baked apple, citrus and rich toasty notes from an impressive decade and more of lees ageing
To sit on Cloud 9 is ecstatic. To sip on Cloud 10 is even better! Over a decade in the making, Cloud 10 is a blend of estate grown Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grapes harvested in 2010. The wine has since spent a minimum of 10 years evolving on the bottle lees, before disgorgement. This single estate, Traditional Method Sparkling Wine, in a luxurious magnum format, has notes of ripe baked apple, citrus and honey.
Ambriel Vineyard was founded in 2006 by Charles and Wendy Outhwaite. Coming from banking and law, their careers were unconventional training for winemaking. Nevertheless their attention to detail, curiosity, capacity for hard graft and dogged pursuit of excellence have served them well. As self-confessed control freaks they take charge of every aspect from grape to glass. Wendy grows the grapes, Charles ferments them. Blending – somewhat appropriately – is done together (and is done blind). All wines are made from estate grown grapes and matured at Ambriel. They are proudly certified carbon neutral.
