Yotes Court On the Nod Bacchus 2022
Aromas of passionfruit, juicy white melon and lime zest; full bodied and bursting with lemony citrus, peach and floral notes
This wine is fresh and aromatic, it has aromas of gooseberry, cassis bud and green pineapple on the nose, followed by a zesty palate of pithy pink grapefruit. A classic English Bacchus.
In England is unusual to plant vines at 140m above sea level but Yotes Court top blocks are warm, sunny and sheltered. In an area that had once been a successful apricot orchard Yotes planted their Bacchus vines in 2018 on the assumption that if you can ripen an apricot you can ripen a grape. 2022 ‘On the Nod’ is the 3rd vintage Bacchus released by Yotes Court and the 2nd to be harvested by machine. Bacchus has a tendency to produce uneven bunches so, during the Spring pruning season, they decided to change to spur pruning. This regulates grape bunch size along the length of the vine, ensures even ripening and facilitates the decision on exactly when to machine harvest the fruit.
