This single vineyard Charmat method wine is made from Auxerrois, Chardonnay, Seyval Blanc and Reichensteiner grapes. These grape varieties bring together the oldest and newest planting in the vineyard, ranging from vines planted in the mid 90’s through to the Chardonnay planted in 2010. Combining French and Germanic grape varieties to deliver a unique blend which delivers a fruit forward style with notes of green apple and stone fruit with a dry and refreshing finish.
The vines at Shotley Vineyard were planted in phases since the 1990s. Having fallen into abandonment, Craig and Charlotte took over the vineyard in 2017, and embarked on the laborious process of restoring it. The vineyard is beautifully situated overlooking both the Orwell and Stour estuaries, against the backdrop of the Suffolk Coast & Heaths and in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
