Laneberg Wine’s Pinot Noir is a mature Pinot Noir with forest floor notes and a sweet red fruit foundation, with cherry and strawberry intertwined. The tannins are well integrated and add lovely texture. We suggest decanting for 30 minutes to allow the wine to open up fully.
Laneberg Wine was a winery based in Newcastle that created amazing wines from grapes grown in the South and Midlands of England. Sadly, they went out of business in 2022, but we had bought batches of their wines in 2021 which we have been maturig in our cellars ever since, waiting for the optimal moment to release.
The Pinot Noir, and small amout of Rondo, for this wine is from Somborne Valley vineyards in Hampshire. The grapes were crushed and destemmed, then fermented at 25°C in stainless steel using Laffort Zymaflore RB4 yeast, with regular pump-overs. Fermentation took approximately eight days, with four days extra maceration post ferment to maximise flavour. It was aged in old French oak for four months and then filtered and bottled at the winery.
Laneberg Wine was founded by Newcastle-born Elise Lane, who studied biochemistry at Oxford University and winemaking at Plumpton College (with a stint as an accountant inbetween!).
