Gusbourne Late Disgorged Brut Reserve 2013

£99.00

12.00% ABV
Green apple, pear and peach; lime ginger toasted oats and apple pie

With an incredible 90 months on lees, the extended time has brought luxuriousness and depth to this English Sparkling Wine, with notes of brioche, toasted oats and apple pie, building layers to a long nuanced finish. The fruit character is very strong too, with a nose of green apple, pear and peach, with notes of elderflower and white blossom. The palate shows orchard fruits, lime and pineapple, combining with notes of lemongrass and ginger.

2013 saw a cool spring and late budburst; as a result the whole season was somewhat delayed, although conditions were excellent at all the crucial times. The fruit was harvested later than normal, with acidity, phenolic and sugar ripeness in perfect balance.

Gusbourne has 60 hectares at Gusbourne Estate in Kent and 30 hectares in West Sussex that are planted with the 3 classic varieties of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. The distinct terroir and exceptionally mild microclimates of the surroundings add their own depth and complexity to the wines, and Gusbourne aims to allow the combination of site, soil and hard work in the vines to reflect in every bottle.
