Gusbourne Blanc de Blancs 2014

Elegant palate of toasted hazelnuts, stone fruits and candied citrus with a long rounded finish

Bright golden in colour, with aromas of preserved lemon, ripe pear and brioche. The palate is rich and elegant, with candied citrus, stone fruits and toasted hazelnuts. A complex wine with attractive mineral notes and a long, rounded finish. Gusbourne has 60 hectares at Gusbourne Estate in Kent and 30 hectares in West Sussex that are planted with the 3 classic varieties of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. The distinct terroir and exceptionally mild microclimates of the surroundings add their own depth and complexity to the wines, and Gusbourne aims to allow the combination of site, soil and hard work in the vines to reflect in every bottle.

www.jancisrobinson.com tasting note: “Perhaps the most evolved nose of all these 24 champagnes and English sparkling wines. Very charming and evolved palate that lacks the zest of some – and is much sweeter than many – but has real evolution. Well mannered rather than brash. Very tight bead. Filigree texture. Champagne? Admirably long and complex. 17.5/20” (Jancis Robinson)
