An elegant unoaked Chardonnay with aromas of white peach, lemon and apple. The palate is fresh and light with citrus and pear flavourings leading to the long, pure finish. The fruit for this wine comes from Burgundian clone Chardonnay vines grown on chalk on the North Downs of Kent. Using a blend of whole-bunch pressed and de-stemmed grapes gives this wine the perfect balance of texture and elegance. Cool fermentation in stainless steel and no malolactic conversion retains the naturally crisp and fresh character of this cool-climate Chardonnay.
Chapel Down is England’s largest wine producer. Based in the heart of the Garden of England, Chapel Down’s finest vineyards are primarily situated on the North Downs of Kent with a terroir very similar to that of Champagne. The Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Bacchus vines are grown on south facing chalk soils and benefit from a warm, maritime climate. Chapel Down also source high quality fruit from long-term partner vineyards across Kent, Sussex and Essex, resulting in balanced wines with unique flavour profiles.
