Denbies Wine Estate Pinot Noir 2019
Florence strawberries and sweetheart cherries with vanilla and soft textural tannins
The nose and palate are interwoven with layers of ripe raspberries and strawberries. Seventeen months in French oak barriques leads to a gentle cinnamon and vanilla finish, which pairs brilliantly with ripe soft cheeses and grilled lamb.
2019 Pinot Noir was produced in a sterling year. Grown on one of the Estate’s finest blocks, the prime bunches were handpicked over a single morning. The fruit was further scrutinised and sorted before only the best grapes were forwarded to fermentation. After pressing, the wine evolved in oak barrels before being bottled in 2021.The vineyards of Denbies Estate are situated on the North Downs, in the town of Dorking, with its famous chalky soil, in a protected valley of south facing slopes (AONB). A total of 265 acres out of the 700 acre estate have been planted to vine, commencing in 1986. Crafted from grapes grown in one of the estate’s premium blocks, Denbies only make a straight Pinot Noir in the very best of years.
