English Sparkling Wines
New Hall Vineyards Classic Brut 2018
Full-flavoured green apple and elderflower aromas and a yesty depth on the palate
Impressively full-flavoured fizz, with green apple and elderflower aromas, backed up by good yeasty depth on the palate. The wine was made following the traditional method with the first fermentation in stainless steel and second fermentation in the bottle. New Hall is one of England’s oldest and largest vineyards, established by the Greenwood family in 1969. A formative stint in Alsace has inspired the winemaker, Piers Greenwood, to produce some remarkably flavoursome, multi-layered still wines, while the sparkling wines demonstrate the suitability of these Essex slopes for classic English fizz. There are seventy-eight hectares of vines at New Hall, planted to no fewer than nineteen varieties, each selected to optimise the potential of its particular site.
