Court Garden Blanc de Blancs 2018
Finely boned with persistent length, crisp green apples and gala melon
Court Garden’s Blanc de Blancs has superb minerality complemented by crisp green apples and gala melon. The ripeness of the fruit is balanced by a seam of integrated acidity. This wine is from the celebrated 2018 vintage. Colder weather in early spring delayed bud burst and, untroubled by frost, the vines had a good flowering. A really warm summer provided near perfect conditions resulting in a perfect harvest and a great vintage. Previous vintages of Court Garden’s Blanc de Blancs have been very long lived, and we suspect this vintage will also keep for a decade or more.
Court Garden is a family-run, single-estate vineyard and winery in East Sussex, set on a beautiful south-facing slope with the South Downs as a backdrop. The vineyard shares similar geology to North-East France – the chalk of the Downs runs beneath the Channel into the Champagne region. In Sussex, there is a more maritime climate which is perfect for the production of sparkling wine.
