This single estate Pinot Noir is light bodied with aromas of ripe cherries and blackcurrant, plenty of berry fruit on the palate together with that slight savoury note that good cool climate Pinot Noirs can show, with silky tannins on its long finish. This wine pairs well with cured meats, cheese and game and can be chilled to 16ºC.
The vines at Shotley Vineyard were planted in phases since the 1990s, with the Pinot Noir vines, of which there are over 4,000, planted in the late 1990s. Having fallen into abandonment, Craig and Charlotte took over the vineyard in 2017, and embarked on the laborious process of restoring it. The vineyard is beautifully situated overlooking both the Orwell and Stour estuaries, against the backdrop of the Suffolk Coast & Heaths and in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
