Court Garden Sparkling Rosé 2019
Dried cranberry, fresh brioche and a long, balanced creamy finish
The Court Garden Sparkling Rosé 2019 has a very pale peach hue and vigorous froth. Aromas of dried cranberry and toast and nicely defined red fruit flavours, lively acidity balancing creamy mousse and good weight, nicely balanced, savoury finish with a lovely brioche character. 2019 started with the warmest February on record, which encouraged early bud burst, and consequently extra vulnerability to frost. A very wet June preceded a high temperature record in July, with hot weather continuing to late August.
Court Garden is a family-run, single-estate vineyard and winery in East Sussex, set on a beautiful south-facing slope with the South Downs as a backdrop. The vineyard was established in the spring of 2005 and now extends to 17 acres, mainly planted with the three traditional Champagne varieties of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier. In 2008 the still varieties Pinot Gris, Ortega, Dornfelder and Rondo were added. Sussex shares similar geology to north-east France, the chalk of the downs runs beneath the Channel into the Champagne region. In Sussex, there is a more maritime climate which is perfect for the production of sparkling wine.
