If you like a little sweetness and texture in your wine, then Stopham’s Pinot Gris may suit you. It is off-dry, with aromatic peach and pear fruit alongside the floral character on the nose. On the palate, this has excellent balance with crisp acidity. It is fairly full in body, with plenty of juicy fruit intensity, but is refreshing and long, with a lively citrus and stone fruit finish. Stopham Estate Vineyard’s story began in 2007 when winemaker Simon Woodhead planted 21,000 vines on his sandy south-facing 15 acre estate, following the successful completion of a Viticulture course at Plumpton Agricultural College in East Sussex. Joined by Assistant Winemaker Tom Bartlett in 2010, just in time for the first vintage, the pair shared a common passion for English wine.
