Sharpham Vineyard Stop Ferment Bacchus 2019

11.0% ABV
Zesty, lime-and-grapefruit peel, elderflowers and spring hedgerow

Off dry and aromatic, tropical fruits and floral notes make up this pronounced aroma profile. The upfront sweetness of this wine is perfectly balanced with a backbone of acidity. Sharpham have been producing wine for nearly twenty five years from carefully selected grape varieties grown on their sheltered slopes overlooking the River Dart. Traditional and new world techniques are employed resulting in a range of distinctive and carefully balanced wines. review: Gentle gooseberry-fool aromatics. Tingling (extra CO2 to keep the wine clean?) and with such high acidity that it would take a sensitive or experience palate to pick up that this wine isn’t dry. Has more than a ring of Mosel Kabinett Riesling about it. Zesty, lime-and-grapefruit peel, elderflowers and spring hedgerow greens – this explodes with flavour, cartwheels across daisied lawns, has grass-stained knees and a wicked belly laugh that is impossible to resist. Not the most sophisticated Bacchus varietals I’ve ever tasted, but surely the most joyful, generous, pleasure-giving of them all! All you need with this is a great big tub of cold and creamy smoked-fish dip, a platter of seedy crisp bread, and your toes in hot beach sand. Oh, and the smell of salty sea air in your nose. Another glass, please. 16.5/20 (Tamlyn Currin)
