This is Harrow & Hope’s 5th vintage release of their ever-popular Rosé, this time from the truly exceptional year of 2018. The hottest and driest growing season for the last 30 years produced a ripe, abundant and disease free crop; the rare trifecta in grape growing terms. This weather translated into an easy life for a winemaker, pick when you want, and then just gently guide the wine through the process without having to do much at all. This 50% Pinot Noir, 35% Chardonnay, 15% Pinot Meunier blend received a 7% red Pinot Noir addition to add rich red fruits, and a beautiful colour. Harrow & Hope ferment 30% in aged oak barrels to build that lovely signature texture and weight. Open and friendly on release it will continue to develop more complexity for many years to come. Harrow & Hope’s single-vineyard sits on an ancient Thames gravel terrace. Being quite central and away from the coast the vineyard experiences high summer day temperatures with cooler nights that preserve precious acidity.
