Giffords Hall St Edmundsbury 2018

11.50% ABV
The Red Ed has a generous nose and is packed with fruit flavours of plum, rhubarb and cranberry

Named in honour of Gifford Hall’s home town. St Edmundsbury Cathedral has a great history – vines were grown within the Abbey Walls and in medieval times, a third of the Tithe to Rome paid in hogsheads of wine. This is a full-bodied red with loads of fruit and a generous mouthfeel. The Red Ed has a plentiful nose and is packed with fruit flavours, plum, Rhubarb and cranberry. Giffords Hall is a family-owned vineyard planted on the site of an ancient glacial riverbed near Long Melford in Suffolk. Their sandy/clay soil produces quality grapes, high in natural sugars and acids, that lend themselves particularly well to both sparkling and dry, aromatic still wines. The vineyard was planted around 25 years ago and the vines are now in their prime.
