Based in the sunny and sheltered Waveney Valley in South Norfolk, overlooking the villages of Earsham and Bungay, Flint Vineyards winemaker Ben Witchell crafts wines using a blend of innovation and a respect for tradition. The vineyard site was selected as one of the driest and sunniest regions in England and the south-east facing vines are planted on free-draining gravel and flint soil. This rosé is a blend of two very distinct early ripening grape varieties: Cabernet Cortis and Rondo. Cabernet Cortis is related to Cabernet Sauvignon but ripens very early and produces complex wines that can be both fruit-driven and herbaceous. Rondo is a deep red-skinned variety that lends complexity and texture. The nose is alive with confected strawberries and watermelon and the palate is bright and full of red fruits with a delicate herbaceous character. This wine has a textured and linear finish, with a hint a residual sugar to balance the lively acidity, which matches the vibrant colour. This is a bold rosé!
