Flint Vineyard Bacchus 2020

Lime, passionfruit and cut herbs layered over an elderflower core - intense yet refreshing

Based in the sunny and sheltered Waveney Valley in South Norfolk, overlooking the villages of Earsham and Bungay, Flint Vineyard’s winemaker Ben Witchell crafts wines using a blend of innovation and a respect for tradition. The vineyard site was selected as one of the driest and sunniest regions in England and the south-east facing vines are planted on free-draining gravel and flint soil. The Bacchus 2020 is similar in character to their 2019, with gooseberry and elderflower notes on the nose under-pinned by a delicate spice like crushed pink peppercorns. It differs slightly on the palate with more body and texture and perhaps a longer, juicier grapefruit finish. When tasting, it initially offers a stony, grassy character but when swirled in the glass opens up with tropical flavours. A great wine for a summer’s barbeque or to complement hot smoked salmon or just plain old fish and chips!
