Exton Park Blanc de Blancs 2011

£39.99

11.50% ABV
Toffee, brioche and mandarin notes and a stone flint nose; creamy, almond flavour with a hint of lemon zest and minerality

The first vintage wine to be released by Exton Park, this is 100% Chardonnay from the pure chalk terroir from the top of the hill, the oldest plot in the vineyard made a particularly good year. A fine example of what can be achieved from this very special site. Just 2500 bottles were made in total, so the quantity will be limited perfect as a valued birthday or Christmas gift. The wine is a luminous gold, with a nose of toffee, brioche and mandarin notes and a stone flint backbone. In the mouth, the wine has a creamy, almond flavour with a hint of lemon zest and clean minerality, combining complexity, balance and length. A wine to be savoured.

www.jancisrobinson.com tasting note: “This wine, first released in 2015, seems to be evolving beautifully and showing no signs of fading. Lots of brioche on the nose here. Rich and broad, opening into stunning smokiness on the palate. Gold-spun grapefruit, deep and almost honeyed into the framework but still so tight and tense and coiled. Mouth-watering. Like rolling lemon rocks around in the mouth and then it finishes and opens out into glorious, savoury smoky biscuit. 17.5/20” (Tamlyn Currin)
