Initially planted in 1972, the Chilford Hall vineyard is set out over 20 acres of free draining “flinty” soil which overlays chalk. In exceptional years, they produce still red wines – and 2020 was one such year. Their Granta Valley is a Regent and Rondo blend, which has seen a proportion aged for 6 months in oak. Lovely blackberry and mulberry aromas together with toast and vanilla from the oak combine in a medium body red that would be great with Italian dishes.
