This is the first wine in Chilford Hall’s premium edition blue label wines. Made only in exceptional years, this wine is produced exclusively from Müller-Thurgau grapes grown in the estate. 25% of the blend was aged in oak barrels. Floral notes dominate on the nose, with hints of green fruit and citrus; on the palate it is luscious ripe lime, pink grapefruit and pear that play out delightfully.
Initially planted in 1972, the vineyard is set out over 20 acres of free draining “flinty” soil which overlays chalk. Since its first planting, the vineyard has grown in size and now covers more than 20 acres, comprised of 9 different vine varieties each chosen to perfectly match the climate and soil conditions of the estate. With more than a quarter of a century of expertise, Chilford Hall Vineyard is now a prime visitor attraction, producing more than 18,000 bottles of still and sparkling wine each year.
