Gently fizzing elderflower and gooseberry flavours

As England’s first Frizzante, this is a delightfully new and light-hearted way to enjoy Bacchus wine. Produced via tank fermentation, this lightly sparkling style fills the mouth with a gentle creamy effervescence that beautifully compliments the elegance and crisp freshness of the wine. The addition of only a small amount of sugar for the second fermentation in tank delivers the lighter fizz, and at just 2 bar pressure allows it to be bottled under screw cap. The “tank method”, without the prolonged lees contact ageing of our traditional bottle fermented sparkling wines, also lends itself to creating this lighter, fresher fruit focussed style of wine. The beautiful image of a murmuration of starlings over the iconic West Pier in Brighton was drawn for Albourne Estate by tattoo artist, Jo Chastney. Alison Nightingale began her working life in multi-national marketing before changing to a more creative, fulfilling and balanced path, setting up Albourne Estate. She selected the site of the vineyard not only for its stunning views of the South Downs, but for its slope, aspect, altitude and geology: tracing the beautiful south-facing slope of a low ridge created by underlying Cretaceous green sandstone. These features provide excellent drainage, low frost risk and maximum sun exposure. Albourne grow seven grape varieties planted across multiple clones and rootstock.
