SUMMARY:Cambridge String Quartet x Grape Britannia : Beethoven x Wine
DESCRIPTION:Beethoven String Quartet No. 5 in A Major\, Op. 18 No. 5 – four wines matched to the movements \nWe are collaborating with The Cambridge String Quartet to present a wonderful evening combining music and wine. Saturday 8 May 2021\, 7.30pm – 9.00pm. \nMusic was not always about sound for Ludwig van Beethoven. As his ears began to fail him\, he also used the senses of sight and touch when he was composing. The Cambridge String Quartet & Grape Britannia invite you to experience Beethoven’s music through another sense: taste! On Saturday 8th May we will be putting on a virtual event combining wine and music. We have paired four of our finest English wines with Beethoven’s String Quartet in A major\, Op. 18. No. 5\, and will lead listeners through a virtual tasting in dialogue with Beethoven expert\, Professor Nicholas Marston. The Cambridge String Quartet will offer a fresh take on this fizzing\, theatrical quartet\, performing each movement alongside a different wine and offering listeners an enriching experience for all the senses! \nWine can be purchased either as samples (3 x 100ml + 200ml can) or full bottles (3 x 750ml + 200ml can). \nThe Cambridge String Quartet have played in over 20 countries in 4 continents. They have recorded and broadcast at Abbey Road and Carnegie Hall.

Madeleine Angevine\, Bacchus\, Reichensteiner\, Rondo\, Pinot Noir\, (both Burgundian and Precoce)\, and Pinot Blanc\, all do well on this site.

SUMMARY:Introduction to wine tasting
DESCRIPTION:Do you like wine but feel that it can sometimes seem a bit mysterious and that descriptions on the label aren’t always easy to understand? \nThis introduction to wine tasting session will answer many of your questions by guiding you through some of the key terminology and giving you a way of systematically tasting a wine – so that you are more confident in what it is about a particular wine that you like and have the language to describe it\, meaning you can purchase with more confidence. \nThis evening will absolutely not be pretentious and aims to make wine tasting fun and accessible. We’ll taste 6 delicious and diverse wines across the spectrum of white\, rosé and red. \nPlease note that crackers and bread will be provided as “palate cleansers” to help you reset your taste-buds between wines\, but no other food is included.
